Curt Steiner, Senior Vice President for University Relations

Veteran communicator Curt Steiner has broad experience in media strategy, press relations, communications, public affairs, campaign management, corporate consulting and government policy-making. Steiner and former partner Nancy Lesic, of Steiner/Lesic Communications, led a staff who advise such clients as the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System, Greater Cleveland Partnership, The Ohio State University, Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA), Flexible Pavements of Ohio, International Truck & Engine, the Ohio Alliance for Civil Justice, Deloitte Consulting, the Inter-University Council, the Ohio Dental Association, the Ohio Hospital Association and a coalition of Central Ohio's non-profit hospitals. Until launching Steiner/Lesic Communications, with offices in Columbus and Cleveland, Steiner served as CEO of HMS Success Public Relations.

Steiner is known for a keen understanding of the dynamics of public opinion and the players who shape it. His career of more than two decades includes tours of service as Chief of Staff and Communications Director for the administration of Ohio Governor George Voinovich and Chief of Staff to Ohio House Speaker Jo Ann Davidson. Steiner has also served as principal media strategist for U.S. Senator Mike DeWine, U.S. Senator George Voinovich and numerous members of the U.S. House of Representatives, Ohio Legislature and Ohio Supreme Court.

Steiner has advised corporate clients on media strategy, marketplace positioning and government relations. He has also served as a key policy and public relations advisor or campaign leader for coalitions promoting passage of statewide ballot issues and otherwise influencing public policy or public opinion.

In its January 2000 edition, Small Business News named Steiner one of the "100 leaders for the new millennium."

Steiner is a 1978 high honors graduate of Ohio University, where he studied communications, political science and English. He began his professional career as a news manager, producer and reporter for the university-licensed public broadcasting station, WOUB Radio and TV. He arrived in Columbus in 1981 as an aide to the Ohio Senate leadership.
